Sunday morning thoughts

It has been two weeks since we all went to our church together. Easter Sunday always finds us at the church I grew up in with that jamming choir!! Last week was baseball tournament but Mookie went to church so she could sing. Thank God for trustworthy friends!!!!!!!

Pastor Carter is doing a marriage series. I bet its good. Can't wait to see how God is going to inspire, convict, encourage, and love me through this sermon. God is an awesome God!!

Now for other pressing questions of the day:
  • What am I going to wear?
  • I need to shave my legs
  • I need to go major grocery shopping
  • I can't wait until I go to the beauty shop this week!!!!!!!!!
  • I need to find Wade some socks for this morning
  • Will I run into one of my favorite people - SHELLEY WHITE - this morning!! Love her!!!
  • Is Mojo going to hitting practice today?
  • How many loads of laundry can I realistically do so that no one harrasses me about doing it this busy week???

And the most important question of all:

  • Am I really going to spend more time in the Word of God this week like I feel led to??

For the Love of Ray J

Yesterday evening I had the rare chance to be home alone. I was supposed to be merely stopping by to check on the chicken in the crock pot, but got too comfortable to leave. Anyway, while flipping through the channels on TV as I was preparing to take a quick nap, I landed on VH1's For the Love of Ray J. What on earth was that foolishness? I mean I don't even watch The Bachelor because I can not understand why someone would even put themselves through this.

But For the Love of Ray J took the cake. What is wrong with these people? Why in Hades would they allow some washed up idiot to give them another name? Can you say low self esteem? How surprising was it that Ray J chose the girl who performed on the private stripper pole for him? How tacky was it that he gave them both the same gift? NOT

How disrespectful was it that Cocktail thought it was so classy to sit around drinking hard liquor with her parents? How tacky is the whole premise of the show?

How ridiculous is it that even though I was disgusted I will be watching the reunion show when it comes on next Monday???

Church's Chicken

We should not eat fried chicken at work:

Y’all I had some chicken from Church’s and greens for lunch. Oh yeah…and a pepper. It was sure good. I guess too good. I got sleepy in 5th period. Come 6th period it was over. Before I knew it I had closed my eyes while the students were reviewing for their test. Next thing I knew I was talking out loud – IN MY SLEEP!!! However, I wasn’t snoring. I started talking to the kids about Ms. Ziegler. I just remember saying something to them about the amount of time they spend with Ms. Zeigler is about the same with me and they should know……Know what I don’t know. But I woke up. They were looking at me like I am crazy. Maybe I am…..But in the words of Oprah, this is what I know for sure:

GREASY, FRIED CHICKEN AT WORK ESPECIALLY AROUND TEENAGERS!!!!!!!!!!

Good friend = Batesy

I have had several really good friends in my life. I would say the number is less than 10. Really good friends. To earn this title they must be non-judgemental, trustworthy, honest, loyal, embrace my children (this requirement came after I had the dynamic duo), love my kids, tolerate my moodiness, be funny, down to earth, someone I feel I can confide in and not have it spread to the outer limits of the world, fun to be around, and understand that my house is ALWAYS junky. Yes.....even the new one we just moved into.

Batesy is my friend. She is sooooo funny it's criminal. She is younger than me. 27. Batesy is single, smart, and a total band, science, and math dweeb. She's the most "gangster nerd" I know. She wanted to come to my kids' math and science night at their school because well....she's a math teacher and a gigantic nerd. So instead of just hanging out with us she ended up being our transportation for the evening which included taking me to pick the twins up from school. We only have one car right now (well for about the past 3 weeks) and I was in a bind and my friend Batesy helped me out and probably drove like 50-75 miles in the total process. Not only did Batesy attend the family night she was like totally into the event and was asking questions and stuff. Remember.....she is a math/science dweeb. The twins were excited and Mookie who totally looks up to Batesy (which I don't mind because Batesy has a Master's degree in biology, owns her own d*&m house by herself, faithfully attends the 7:45 AM service at her church on Sundays, is committed to being celibate until God sends her her husband, is a dedicated professional, super smart, and totally a strong, independent Christian woman) said "it's like she's a part of our family." We had fun. And no.......Baby Wade was not there because he would have totally wrecked shop on the school. :-)

Good friends are hard to come by. And Batesy is a good friend. Some of the presenters were from the district and not my kids' campus so they didn't know me from Jane and couldn't quite figure out who were the parents (me or Batesy) or if one of the kids belonged to me and one belonged to Batesy or what. Because I live in a small town the conversational topic the next day may have been "who was the lesbian couple with the two kids?" Funny.

Thanks for helping us Batesy. Hope the pizza didn't give you the bubble guts.
